Ever since I can remember I have relished my mum’s recipe book, and the memories that I have of our time in the kitchen, together, when I was a little girl. The Gather Table is based upon those memories as well as those from other times and childhoods.
Writing this book has been one big long trip down memory lane. It has given me the space to go back to my roots, to the original gather table set up by the women in my life who meant the most to me, my mum and my nan. They made the most impact on me in lots of ways but the thing that stands out the most, for me, is their love for food creating and sharing.
The Gather Table is filled with these kinds of conversations and stories, of a time when food and food sharing was more simple and less fussy and where meal times were, more often than not, spent gathered around a little old table with family, connecting over a home cooked meal.
Included within these 175 pages are:
thirteen nostalgia -filled food sharing stories
seven recipes handed down from kitchen to kitchen
conversations with my own family and friend
and lots and lots of gorgeous food photos
